reading a lot of the posts here,especially from Eurotrash like myself, the main theme seems to be PowerShopping.

Lot of posters already mentionned Century 21, but I have to agree, I think it looks like a dump.

Just across the street is SYMS. However, I havent read any recommendation about them. Are they really NY best kept secret? Same brands as in Filene%26#39;s or Century 21, but much less chaotic and less crowded. And more importantly: also cheaper than the other 2....

I really don%26#39;t like Syms. Everytime I go there I end up leaving in minutes feeling dirty.

It looks a bit scruffy,that%26#39;s true. But unbeatable prices, good collection and no loads of tourists.

There%26#39;s a Syms in midtown on 54 st. b/w Park and Madison. It%26#39;s a lot saner than C 21. I don%26#39;t think it has as much top end stuff. It%26#39;s fantastic for men imo, especially for basics like shirts, socks etc. and for leather coats/jackets for men and women and I%26#39;ve seen some nice women%26#39;s leather pants and skirts. Some of the women%26#39;s things are good. Daffy%26#39;s I think is very good as is Loehmann%26#39;s. I find Filene%26#39;s very blah.
