Is it easy to change Aussie cash to US cash in NY?

I generally prefer to travel with cash but can I easily change it in NY? What banks might be best? Or is aussie dollar to obscure a currency?

All Chase Manhattan Bank branches will do it. I will tell you the closest branch to your hotel if you give me name and/or location. However, you will get a better exchange rate if you use your bank card in ATMs in NYC to get dollars.

Gary - dont bother taking $AUD when you will be paying for conversion at any bank or currency exchange. I suggest that you take a little $USD cash and then just use a cashcard at any ATM. You will pay a small cost for use of the machine but it is nowhere near as much as the conversion rate. One minute at an ATM or waiting in line in a bank and then for a teller to have to make calls about exchange rates etc. Go with the card.
