3 nights in NY, stay in NJ??

This is my 1st visit to NY for 3 nights. I can%26#39;t get over the price of hotels. Would anyone recommend or even suggest staying in NJ and commuting over? If so, where and how? Thanks for any suggestions you might have!

This question is coming up almost daily as the prices of NY hotels rise. If you put stay in New Jersey in the text search above you%26#39;ll find lots of other posts discussing pros and cons and listing hotels. The Hyatt in Jersey City and the Sheraton on the Hudson in Weehawken seem to be the best options if you%26#39;re considering this.

note about the Sheraton and the ferry

according to the NYWaterway website, the ferry that serves the Sheraton in Weehawken operates only on weekdays

if you are at the Sheraton on weekends, you%26#39;ll need to use their shuttle which will take you to the Port Imperial location and the ferry from there runs 7 days a week
