Traffic Problems?? Driving in on morning of the ';Race for...

Yikes! We will be driving in early morning on Sept.25th and that%26#39;s the day for the Race for The Cure. Staying at Travel Inn 515W and 42nd Street but won%26#39;t be able to park at the hotel until Check-in at 1 pm...what sort of traffic problems will we have? Can we avoid the race route to drive to Little Italy district and maybe park in an indoor parking garage? Or any other suggestions on where to park while waiting??

Driving a car into Manhattan is not the ideal mode of travel, unless you are a taxi driver. Event surges of visitors make parking is a problem. You mght do best to skip the car and use public transport

The race takes place in Central Park and will be nowhere near your hotel and probably will not affect you. I would first go to your hotel, check-in, have the hotel store your bags if your room is not ready. Then drive to a part of the city you want to go to, park in a public garage if you can%26#39;t find street parking and see that area. Go back to your hotel at 1 PM, park your car and use public transportation thereafter unless you are going out of the City.
