2 Last Questions - Canal St & Friday Early Sabbath Closings

Well - our NYC trip is at hand.

What started as a single question has become a string of posts. I am making final adjustments to our walking itinerary, (Battery Park to Central Park), and have two remaining questions

1. Between what streets can we find the largest concentration of Canal St vendors?

2. Someone on this board was kind enough to alert me to the early Friday closings of many Jewish owned businesses, due to Sabbath observance. We were hoping to visit both the LES %26amp; Diamond district on Friday. Around what time on Friday would most of these shops close?

Thanks DS 67

1. On Canal Street itself, you can shop from Church Street (west) all the way east, practically to the on-ramp of the Manhattan Bridge! I%26#39;d say east of Elizabeth Street, it slows down a bit. It will be clear once you get there.

Don%26#39;t forget Pearl River Mart!

2. Most Orthodox Jewish stores close at around 3 or 4pm on Fridays (earlier in winter).

Oddly, the 47th St. Jewelers%26#39; websites do not list hours of stores (maybe because, even with a name like Blauweiss/Berkowitz Jewelers, Inc., you don%26#39;t want to seem ';too Jewish';):

But they do have some nice advice and tidbits about buying jewelry, pearls and diamonds...
