Reasonably priced restaurant near the Shubert Theatre

Will be staying at the Belvedere(Sept 21-24) 48th %26amp; 8th and going to see Spamalot at the Shubert Theatre on 44th looking for a reasonably priced restaurant for dinner before the show. We are going to the 21 Club the next night so not looking to go overboard on the budget both nights. Just good food, anything but seafood, hubby not a fan. All suggestions gratefully appreciated.

The most popular choice seems to be Joe Allen (www.joeallenrestaurant.com). Something to please almost everyone on their American menu. Very popular though, you%26#39;ll definitely need a reservation.

Other Restaurant Row places I can recommend are the Italians -- Orso, Lattanzi, Becco (though Becco%26#39;s seating is quite cramped, particularly upstairs).

Or, try the wonderful Virgil%26#39;s BBQ, on W. 44th just east of Broadway. Excellent BBQ - I just love their pulled pork sandwich. It%26#39;s a big family place and quite reasonable.

John%26#39;s Pizzeria is also on W. 44th St., just east of 8th Ave. It%26#39;s in a converted church. IMHO, the best pizza!

If you want pizza, John%26#39;s is a good idea. For Italian, Trattoria Trecolori is good reasonably priced on west 44 st.

Sams is on west 45 st b/w Broadway %26amp; 8th ave. Just plain American food with some Italian choices. More info here
