Eating Alone on the LES

So I just found out that my traveling buddy isn%26#39;t gonna make our trip to NYC next week, so can anyone tell me a couple of good restaurants for solo diners on the LES, EV or Union Square (where I%26#39;m staying) areas. I%26#39;ve done some research here, but all the previous suggestions for solo dining have all been in midtown.

Thanks in advance, peeps! ;-)

Dining solo is an elegant experience. Pick the restaurant you like, make a reservation and enter with full confidence. I do it all over world and have never felt ill at ease with those who help me select menu options or serve me food. That said, if you feel intimidated or isolated (which I do understand ), room service and casual diners are good options. Whatever you do, be brave and have fun!

The neighborhoods you%26#39;re going to tend to have very casual restaurants - solo diners with book, newspaper or laptop on the table beside them are far from unusual!

Thanks ladies!!

When I lived in the East Village, I went out to dinner by myself more or less every night. (The only thing I know how to make for dinner is reservations.) You will see a lot of that.

Plus there are a lot of places in that area with awesome food where you order at the counter and then sit down. (Not sure what the proper term for that is...fast food doesn%26#39;t seem to apply in this case.)
