We are staying at the Murray Hill Suites and wanted to know if there are any good italian restaurants or steakhouses in the general vicinity? Thanks.
Murray Hill Restaurants
Coppola%26#39;s is a good italian place right near there. Here is their website...complete with 360 virtual tour.

For steak do Bobby Van%26#39;s in Grand Central.

Villa Berulia, on 34th between Lexington-Park Aves., is a good, old-fashioned neighborhood Italian.
Yes and yes. For steak, Wolfgang%26#39;s Steakhouse is one of the newest steak places in NYC. It%26#39;s owned by a relative of the famous Peter Lugers in Brooklyn. I haven%26#39;t been but reviews are very good. It%26#39;s at Park %26amp; 33 st. It%26#39;s pricey as are most of the steak places.
Trio is not exactly Italian. It%26#39;s billed as Croatian/Mediterranean, but I think you%26#39;d like it. It%26#39;s not too pricey and there%26#39;s often live piano music. It%26#39;s on 33 st b/w Lexington %26amp; 3rd.
Tre Pomodori on 34th b/w 2nd %26amp; 3rd is ';cheap and cheerful';. Better for takeout imo.
Salute on Madison %26amp; 39th is good (but can get pricey). I like their pizza and sometimes have lunch there in the bar area. Stella del Mare is another that%26#39;s good but pricey. I think they get more of a business crowd.
The best rest. in the area imo is Artisanal (French). Minado is a bargain all you can eat Japanese/Korean buffet with very good food. Sarge%26#39;s deli good for breakfast.
Agree with nywhiz about Trio and Wolfgangs
Trio - book in advance if you want to go on a Tues / Wed or Thurs when they have a pianist. Lovely food
Wolfgangs- excellent grilled food - not cheap but beware huge portions - I ordered far too much extras - the jacket potatos were the size of a plate!!!!

Not an Italian or steak place, but a lovely restaurant with great vibe is Meli Melo.
On Madison around 30th Street. Closed Mondays.
Thanks, everyone!
I believe your hotel is on 38th just off 3rd, so you%26#39;ll be near Osteria Laguna, which is on 42nd between 3rd and 2nd, across the street from the NY Helmsley Hotel. I think it bills itself as something like ';modern Venetian,'; but whatever it is, it%26#39;s a nice casual mix of modern Italian dishes. It%26#39;s owned by the same people who own Osteria al Doge and Osteria Stella in the theater district.
A favorite of mine--and of all the friends I take there--is Notaro on Second Avenue off 35th Street. It%26#39;s a friendly, atmospheric true neighborhood Italian restaurant with excellent food, good service, nice atmosphere, and amazing prices...I think there%26#39;s an ';early bird'; special for around $13! Check it out.
