We will be driving into Manhattan and staying at the Milennium Hilton. I thought we would check in and relax a bit then head out to the WTC site. Any suggestions on other things in the near area? Then we would like to take the subway over to Brooklyn and have pizza, then walk the bridge back into Manhattan and to our hotel. Does this sound ok? Which subway do we use? I%26#39;ve never been on a subway before.
Keep in mind this is all the night before Thanksgiving. Are any streets or areas going to be closed that night in preparation for the parade. We may stroll into Times square later that night.
First day of our trip
If you are going to be in New York on Thanksgiving Eve as it%26#39;s called, they have a big party on the West Side of Central Park as they blow up the huge balloons. It%26#39;s got some catchy title called the ';Blow Up Bash...'; or something along those lines..but I forget at the moment.
South Street Seaport is right near where you will be also, if heading up to the park is of no interest.
First day of our trip
I could have sworn I posted this already...

Find anything there?
Take the 2 or 3 train at Fulton Street to the first stop in Brooklyn - Clark Street.
Be sure to also visit St. Paul%26#39;s Chapel while you are visiting the WTC site. It has a very moving tribute to the WTC victims.
If it%26#39;s still light after the WTC site, and if it%26#39;s not too cold, you may want to take the free Staten Island ferry round trip which will take you right past the Statue of Liberty. Nothing to do in Staten Island, just go for the boat ride, don%26#39;t get off, and come back.
Thanks for the info. Queens, you did post that and yes I have looked at it. It is a wonderful site. I%26#39;m just trying to get straight in my head a sort of order to what I would like to try to accomplish with the husband and our 3 kids. You have all been a big help. I even found out where in Central Park to take the ';boys'; for a pick up basketball game. Excellent!
Rather then taking a subway 鈥?take a walk down Wall Street once you鈥檙e done visiting the WTC Site. You鈥檒l pass the NYSE, 40 Wall, the Bull, the Native American Museum and lots of other big sights. Keep walking down to the South Street Seaport (it鈥檚 not a long walk at all) and you can take a water Taxi to Fulton Pier in Brooklyn 鈥?Grimaldi鈥檚 is a block up street (anyone you pass will be able to point you in the right direction). After you eat you can take that walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.
What I would want to do that night (actually, it鈥檚 what I am going to do) is to go up to the Museum of Natural History. They blow up the balloons for the Thanksgiving鈥檚 Day Parade on the block surrounding the museum and its lots of fun to check out 鈥?especially with kids.
