can anyone help me decide where to stay please

Hi am am visiting ncy with may mother aunt and grandmother who is nearly 70 but fit for her age. We are arriving 1st Dec for 4 nights and want somewhere central but cheap and idealy not a shared bath as it might be a bit too much for gran.

If anyone knows of a quad room or studio we could get on the cheap i would be grateful of if anyone can recomend a place with twin rooms that would also be great.

Any web site addresses for good rates would be a plus.

As you can probably tell this is my first visit and I am so excited !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Radio City Apartments have been mentioned quite a bit on here. Also, someone mentioned they got very good rates at the Grand Central Hyatt for December. Also check the Salisbury and the Belvedere, both good value and recomended on this website.

The good rates people are finding are for the Christmas weekend, but early December is not good for ';cheap'; hotels rates.

You have the added disadvantage of having to stay Friday and Saturday nights.

Book now!

december is not cheap

so its may be snowy and icy also

i stayed at the millenium plaza walk away fornm central station etc

most hotels og 4 start are ok but what will oyu be doing shopping siteseeing?

sightseeing mostly i have been looking for a hotel for over a week now and i just want to find one that is central, reasonable in price and ok for gran

This is a very expensive time in NYC, perhaps the most expensive of the year. I think if you get 1 room you may not find anything for less than $100/person or $400/night. In 1 room you will likely all have to share beds (2 double or queen beds) It may not be available but check the Travel Inn.

On onetravel.com I see the Excelsior available for a suite at between $399-$39/night. This is a decent hotel in a nice area right across from the Museum of Natural History. While it%26#39;s not midtown, it%26#39;s a nice residential area where you%26#39;ll all feel comfortable and find decent places to eat.

I would also suggest considering an apartment. Contact

citylightsnewyork.com

and ask them for prices/availability for both an apartment for all 4 of you and perhaps also 2 smaller apts in the same place for 2 and 2. They also have a ';hosted'; option where you stay in someone%26#39;s apt. with them. People have reported nice experiences doing this but I doubt you%26#39;d find a place for all 4 of you together this way (but maybe).

Good luck. It is a beautiful time in NYC, if expensive.

PS there are options just outside the city but they%26#39;re not that cheap at that time of year and I think it would be a problem for the older ladies in the group going back and forth.

thank you for that i have sent a mail to them to see if they have any appts available

Have you checked Marriott%26#39;s brand new Residence Inn Times Square? I just happend upon it while researching for my upcoming trip in July. The Inn is scheduled to open in November. It%26#39;s not listed in the Trip Advisor, cause it%26#39;s not open yet. They are taking reservations. I got a studio for $219 which includes a full hot breakfast daily. Good Luck

Cheap is relative to the season and going price in NYC. What is cheap in my hometown is probably much more expensive in the city. That said, if you can reserve at the Residence Inn it will likely meet your needs at a reasonable price. Clean, comfortable, spacious.

Embassy Suites is always a Manhattan mainstay. But, if you want to be closer in, the Affina 50 has wonderful suites for about $299.

If you could stay at the Affinia 50 for $299/night that would be great but the price is considerably more for those dates.
