Why would ANYONE like New Yorkers?

Well let me tell you why.

My 15-year old son and I visited the city on August 10-12. We got a metro pass and had quite a full schedule of things to do and places to see. We did quite well getting around, better than I expected, but there were still plenty of times we got a bit disoriented or just couldn%26#39;t find a subway stop or restaurant that inevitibly was just around the block.

Almost every time we asked help we were greeted with friendlyness and helpfulness. On several occasions, us just looking confused would be enough for somebody to stop and ask us if we needed help.

And these people were from all walks of life.

Were was the stereotypical New Yorker? Maybe in the bleachers at a Yankee game (unfortunately we didn%26#39;t get to one). Maybe there is no such beast or that things improved after 9/11?

In any case it was a thrill visiting your city. What a place! And not once did we feel threatened or an any danger. The only complaint we has was the weather (soooo hot and humid inthe summer... especially this summer).

Thank you so much New Yorkers... you%26#39;re the best!

John from Canada feeling a great deal of wellness.

Thanks a lot for your report.....us New Yorkers always feel we get a bad rap, glad we proved that to be incorrect, and that you had a great trip!

Why would ANYONE like New Yorkers?

Thanks! Come back soon.

I think things have genuinely changed since 9/11. Since N.Y.C. is the preferred choice for annihilation for nine out of ten terrorists, there is a greater sense of community and its on a larger scale.

I think it would be really difficult for most out-of-towners to imagine how on that day four years ago the people of the city came together. I don%26#39;t know of anyone who was more than a degree or two of seperation from someone who was lost.

We had the same experience last week. There were a couple of occasions when we were having a bit of trouble with something or weren%26#39;t sure which way to go etc. and people were friendly, warm and generous in their help.

It was really nice. Way to go guys!

Unfortunately you were victims of a terrible hoax.

Every few weeks all New Yorkers fly to the Carribean and the streets are populated from actors from Utah.

We real NYers are back in town - I just beat up a charming little old lady from Belgium during my lunch break.

Waytogo, Dolly. Only last week I had to kick the cr*p out of some handicapped guy who parked in one of our regular parking spaces. All these friendly New Yorkers must be other tourists posing as New Yorkers.

Welcome back, Ruff - I wondered where you%26#39;d got to.

';Were was the stereotypical New Yorker?'; The key word there is ';stereotypical.'; I believe that most stereotypes are unfounded. My experiences with NY%26#39;ers has always proven me right.

There are no real New Yorkers in NYC in August, everybody knows that. We are most often to be found in Canada actually looking for ways to establish residency until after Bush leaves office.

livetotravel...that is very funny!
