There are several good places inside the museum now. La Bonne Soup on 55 b/w 5th %26amp; 6th is good value. On the same street there are a number of other places including LCB Bistro which is upscale French but they have a prix fixe lunch.
Zona Rosa on 56 b.w 5th %26amp; 6th is good Mexican. In fact, 55th or 56th b/w 5th %26amp; 6th both have lots of choices. If you want to treat yourself, the 21 Club is right there on the same block as the museum.

The Modern in MoMa is fairly new and is supposed to be good. Also, there is China Grill at the end of the street in the CBS building. It has a nice (albeit pricey) lunch.
If you walk to 53rd and Lex, eat in the food court downstairs in the Citicorp building (the skyscraper with the slanted roof.)
There%26#39;s a quirky fast-food Chinese called Yip%26#39;s, it%26#39;s mid-block on 52nd between 5th-6th Aves. It%26#39;s actually pretty good but you%26#39;ve got to get there before noon, as it gets mobbed at lunchtime, with three separate lines and the fastest service you%26#39;ve ever seen. I just went today and got mixed veggies with terrific garlic shrimp for $4.50.
Then there%26#39;s Burger Heaven, on 53rd just east of 5th Ave. Not only really good burgers and fries, but fresh lovely salads and sandwiches as well.
check out the reviews for Lou%26#39;s Cafe (53rd %26amp; 6th) on menupages... we stopped there after MOMA, and really liked it.

Soba Nippon, on 52nd St. is good for lunch (think noodles...
the chicken soba salad is excellent)

Astro on corner of 55th St. and 6th Ave. (diner food).
Mangia on W. 57th between 5th and 6th Ave. (upscale deli with seating).
Vago on W 56th between 5th and 6th (upscale Italian; pricey but very good).
La Bonne Soupe - W. 55th between 5th and 6th (moderate French bistro).
Redeye Grill - W. 56th %26amp; 7th Avenue (seafood, pricey, but SO good!)
