It%26#39;s considered an outstanding restaurant. A recent book by Steven Shaw gives some good detaila about the behind-the-scenes workings at Eleven Madison Park, it%26#39;s called Turning the tables.
A lot of mixed reviews. General consensus is poor service.

It%26#39;s one of about a half dozen restaurants owned or run by Danny Meyer, a well-regarded NY restaurateur. It%26#39;s in a high-ceilinged landmarked space in one of the historic insurance co. buildings on Madison Square. In this year%26#39;s Zagat for NYC its scores for food, decor and service are 26, 26 and 25 out of a possible 30, which makes it one of NY%26#39;s top-ranked restaurants.
I liked Eleven Madison Park, but not as much as I have liked other Danny Meyer restaurants like Union Square Cafe (my favorite) and Gramercy Tavern. I don%26#39;t know why -- the food was good. Maybe it was the space, which isn%26#39;t as intimate as the other ones. By the way, he also runs the restaurants in the new Museum of Modern Art. I have eaten at only one of the restaurants there, a casual Italian one on, I think, the second floor, and I liked it very much.
On the list where Zagat revieweres name their five favorite restaurants, Eleven Madison ranks 13 out of 50, Gramercy Tavern is 1, Union Square Cafe is 2, and Tabla (same ownership, next to Eleven Madison, Indian-influenced food) is 19.
