My husband-to-be and I will be in NY for our honeymoon at the end of September. We plan to take the ferry out to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Is it worth it to do a guided tour while on the islands or are things tourist-friendly enough to that we can see everything on our own?
TIA,

Ellis Island/Statue - tours or not?
You won%26#39;t see very much of the Statue of Liberty unless you book one of their ';Tours'; (Observatory or Promenade). See here for more details: www.nps.gov/stli/pphtml/planyourvisit.html The Circle Line site: circlelinedowntown.com/statueTourInfo.html also mentions the Antenna Audio tour but this only seems to be a tour of the park surrounding the statue. Interestingly enough, they now make the following announcement on the Circle Line site, ';We strongly encourage the use of our NJ location with faster processing and parking facilities.'; This presumably is because of the horrendous lines that can develop at Battery Park.
As for Ellis Island, it is much easier to take an audio tour and see everything at your own pace.
