I%26#39;ve been looking at getting our boradway tickets online before we go to NY in Nov (not sure which show yet) but i was wondering about the seats; rear mezzanine, they%26#39;re a lot cheaper -but are we going to be able to see the stage!?!
Do you think i should pay the extra money for seats nearer the stage or will we still have a great time viewing from a distance!?
Broadway show, which seats?
This question depends on the theatre. They are all set up different. In some theatres you will have a better view from the first row of the balcony. There are theatres like the Golden, that only have 800 seats so you can pretty much get a good view no matter where you are, and theatres like the minskoff that are huge barns and you can hardly see people from the back.
If you can afford it, pay full price. If you go to any of the theatre discount sites, look for cheap tickets on a week night. Also, I think the season of savings is starting on www.broadway.com They may have some good offers there.
Broadway show, which seats?
Thanks for your reply. I quite like the look of Sweet Charity at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre
Or Beauty and the Beast at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
What about the rear mezzanine seats at these theatres -any comments?
sorry to jump in on your thread, but glad to hear that about the golden theatre, as i just reserved rear mez seats for Avenue Q (for December). I was worried about the seats, but there are 3 of us and I%26#39;d rather watch 2 shows on 2 nights and have OK seats rather than just 1 show and have great seats.
The other show I want to watch is Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Well that was my theory too -have ok seats and therefore more money to spend on other things (but obvioulsy don%26#39;t want the seats to be so bad that we can hardly see the stage!!)
There is a discount at www.broadwaybox.com for both the shows you mentioned. I usually get very good seats using their discount codes. Anyway you%26#39;ll be notified which seats your getting before you purchase and most of the time you%26#39;ll also have the theater seating chart available
Go with the less expensive seats. The only theater in Manhattan where it%26#39;s hard to see the stage from the back is Radio City Music Hall. The seats will be comfortable too. I went to a play in London and bought cheap tix only to find myself in the Gods sitting precariously on an unpadded bench..never again!
You know, I disagree with previous posts, but I am one of those people who needs to get as close as possible to the interaction of actors to the audience. That said, if I can%26#39;t get front and center to the stage, I don%26#39;t go to the show. It costs a lot of money for me to travel to New York. I choose to make it the experience of a lifetime each time I go.
