5 hour layover at Kennedy Airport

My wife and I face a 5 hour layover at Kennedy prior to departing for Europe. Any suggestions for places to go/things to do locally to pass the time? I%26#39;m thinking subway or cab to Manhattan will eat up too much time. Anything to do closer to the airport?

If both flights are not on the same airline (and sometimes even if they are) you will spend some time getting from 1 terminal to another. Most international flights now expect 2-3 hr in advance check in. So your 5 hr layover may not turn out to be much. There%26#39;s not very much right near the airport. Manhattan is too time consuming. You might want to consider whether you can buy a day pass to one of the club lounges (the one you%26#39;re flying to Europe on would be a good idea).

With the advent of AirTrain you can very quickly and easily get from Terminal to Terminal. For that it will be free too. JFK has 9 terminals, you could easily kill 5 hours there.

Im in the same boat when returning fram NYC to Ireland, what terminal might have some good sit down restaurants to grab a half decent meal and a few beers b4 the flight??

Here is a good website that will tell you everything you need to know about JFK....

I myself am finding it rather interesting. (The Retail, Food and Other Services pull down...will be what you are looking for.)

';Retail, Food and Other Services'; is under JFK Airport Terminal Services.

Terminals 1-3 sounds like your best bet. With a long list of restaraunts....a Cartier, Bulgari, Hermes AND a Ferrgamo, it sounds more cosmopolitan than most American cities. Too bad I am always stuck flying in and out of lamo 8/9.
