When does the christmas bonanza start

Hello folks,

sorry to bother you. I%26#39;m back off to NY for a few days on the 26th November. Will I be too early to see the beginning of the christmas festivities / displays in town?

cheers

When does the christmas bonanza start

We went the same weekend but last year and it was fab - the best time to go I think cause it%26#39;s not packed but all the decorations are about - go see cartier wrapped up like a parcel and also the window displays in Saks, Macys etc......oh and go skating in Central Park....

When does the christmas bonanza start

Xmas decorations started going up yesterday, the day after Labor Day.

welshboy - queensboulevard is so right - retailers love to jimp the season here ;-) But decorations go up big time after the Thanksgiving holiday on November 25th, culminating with the lighting of the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center at 9:00pm on November 30th.

Word of caution: November 26th is call Black Friday here in NYC - it%26#39;s when all the sales start on holiday merchandise - and chaos reigns at places like Macy%26#39;s, etc.

Merchants call the day after Thanksgiving Black Friday because it%26#39;s the day on which they pin hopes of moving their books out of the deficit ';red'; and into the profitable ';black.'; The holiday season generally accounts for half of retailers%26#39; annual sales and profit.

Nice to hear from you, livetotravel!

Will you be posting an update on your efforts?
