Upper West Side.. Daisiegee..Nets....it%26#39;s a lovely neigbourhood where it feels like a community rather than a heaving mass of people. On our first visit, we wandered up to see the Dakota, and I was amazed at Amsterdam and Broadway and the way there were people dog walking, shopping, just generally going about their business. We always made an effort to visit that area on trips and then last year decided to stay there.
It was great after a full day out and about to return to the apartment, have a shower and then head out to some great bars and restaurants. When we arrived home later some evenings, there were loads of places for a cup of coffee or a beer.
I%26#39;m a sucker for places in films so did the whole You%26#39;ve Got Mail thing about 5 years ago, dragging my husband all over to see Meg Ryans apartment Riverside Park etc. I think that%26#39;s where my love for the place happened as I wandered street after street of brownstones.
It%26#39;s such a pleasant place with superb transport links, I don%26#39;t hink I%26#39;d ever stay in midtown again.
Upper West Side.. Daisiegee..Amelia Wilson%26#39;s wonderful Gargoyle Walk will help you explore the upper west side:

How did I leave this out, I must be going bonkers! On the Sunday morning when we stayed on the UWS last year, we were walking along our street on the way out and passed a building we%26#39;d passed numerous times before but hadn%26#39;t really taken much notice of. There was a Gospel Choir (it was very obvious then it was a church, but not the typical look) singing their hearts out and it sounded fabulous. Strange how that has stuck with me, but it%26#39;s something I never hear at home and was so lovely.
