Planning on going to the musesum, on Sunday, Oct. 3rd. If i decide to purchase the tickets there, will there be a really long waiting line, or is it better to purchase them online (if possible, website info, cuz i couldn%26#39;t find anything). Thanks
Metropolitan Museum of Art ?
No there is never that long a waiting line for tickets. The security and coat check lines are longer but they are not that bad either.
Metropolitan Museum of Art ?
Sssshhh...Here%26#39;s a secret:
Instead of going in the main entrance, just walk along the building headed south (downtown). You%26#39;ll see a fountain. There%26#39;s a small side door just past the fountain. Unless something%26#39;s changed recently, you can enter the museum there and bypass any lines because so few people know about this alternate entrance.
There%26#39;s also a coat check area right near the counter here.
The main entrance is for suckers :)
Good idea wingman. That is the same entrance you would use if you parked your car in their garage.
I%26#39;ve been several times and never encountered a line. But even if there were one, it would be worth it!
Great tip wingman, thanks......
I always use the garage entrance, shorter line for sure. Also anther tip. If you need to save money, the price of admission to the MET is SUGGESTED only...meaning you can pay as much or as little as you want. Even just one penny per person.
thanks everybody!
Here%26#39;s theire site:

Enjoy!
I smiled when I read about paying just $0.01-- back in the 1980%26#39;s (in my youth) when I used to run marathons I would often train in Central Park and pay $0.25 for a museum entrance fee so that I could use a CLEAN restroom!
I%26#39;m sure the art lovers were not impressed with my t-shirt, shorts and sneakers!!
But I loved the voluntary donation part!
When I was in high school, our teachers used to say, ';you%26#39;re students. Give a dignified quarter.';
I%26#39;ve increased my donation over time according to inflation, and now I%26#39;m really annoyed because I have to impose a ';fuel surcharge'; on myself!
