unfortunately i dont golf, but from what i heard the nicer golf courses are north of the city, places like amherst, grand island, and lewiston. therefore i would definately stay in the northtowns. after cheektowaga, an eastern suburb, amherst is the second largest commercial area in the region. stay there, its got a good amount of hotels and businesses. homewood suites just opened up very recently, i would recommend staying there. theres also a hampton suites on main street in the historic village of williamsville. you can also check out the buffalo hotel page on this site. it is very accurate when it comes to rating hotels in the area from ';nicest'; to ';not';.
hope i helped, write back if need be
Hi Vinniw,
I don%26#39;t know much about golf either but I know that the Niagara Falls Country Club here on the US side hosts the Porter Cup every year-it is a beautiful course, about 40 minute drive from Buffalo City Center-I am not sure about Accomodations but it is only a 10 minute drive from Niagara Falls. Also John Daly-my favorite pro golfer- is opening up his new course in mid september. It is called Thundering Waters.
www.thunderingwaters.com-it is in Niagara Falls Ontario, again about a 40 minute ride from Buffalo (depending on the bridge)-There are any number of great hotels that are probably within walking distance to the course.
There is also a golf/ski resort called Byrncliff-it is less than an hour ride from the city, but it is a full service resort and conference center with golf right on the grounds-
I understand that it is very beautiful there-check it out on www.byrncliff.com-hope that helps
and enjoy your stay.
Danny, Buffalo Girl,
Thank you - most helpful.
Vince
