Accomodation for three

Hi all NY experts,

My husband and I have been invited to NY by my mother in law. AS she is travelling with us we need a hotel/apartment/loft/BB in a nice and safe location. We are going to NY with our mother for 5 nights in the end of september.

This is the first time in New York for us and we would definitely like to stay in Manhattan.

The hotel must be centrally placed as our mother may have to go home in the afternoon for a rest.

Limit $1700 for five nights.

Any suggestions?

Is there any chance to get coupons via the Internet?

Kind regards,

Mette, Denmark

Are you comfortable with two beds in the same bedroom for all of you? If so, you have options that fit your price range of $340/night but keep in mind surcharges and taxes. Check out the Upper West Side. Lucerne, Belvedere, etc. Good prices for good quality, but validate total cost per night. The Upper West Side has easy bus, subway and cab access to almost anywhere in the city, for a reasonable price. I don%26#39;t think coupons are part of the Internet deal, but do think checking out price options on the web and then calling the hotel direct to get the best price is a good idea and worth the phone call.

Accomodation for three

www.radiocityapts.com

they offer 1 bedroom apt with double bed

and a sofa bed in the living room

they still have rooms available for end of Sept at $205/night

should give you and your husband some privacy

also Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square

they%26#39;re more expensive

also 1 room with double bed and with sofa bed in living room

Hi,

Thanks for quick answers.

Both Belvedere and Lucerne are booked for the period (sept 29 - oct 4).

Is Upper West Side within walking distance of the main attractions or bus/taxi/sub compulsory?

Whats the average rate per night - are we too much of a cheapskate?

Calling the hotel is a good idea - I麓ll do that and challenge them on the price.

I have been looking at the Woogo apartments but cannot find any reviews.

Doubletree seems a bit out of range and Radiocity apts are a bit old fashioned in decor

Does anyone know anything about Woogo?

You can go as cheap as you want if you don%26#39;t mind having one room and having your mother in one bed and your husband %26amp; you in the other bed all in the same room.

Hotel rates have gone up up up in NYC because of exchange rates versus the Euros. My friends who come to NYC and stay at hotels to see Broadwy shows hate the high hotel prices.

Your original budget is reasonable but you have to be flexible. The important thing is the cleanliness of the rooms not the decor.

Beware of places that want payment in money order ahead of time. If anything goes wrong, you are out of your money with no recourse.

Broadwaynyc,

Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate it.

We were actually hoping for either a 1BR or 2BR but have to admit that we are a bit surprised to se the pricing in NY.

I think we have to redo our priorities.....

What would YOU recommend as a nice hotel to take your mother-in-law to?

Mamababoo,

Thanks for your quick advice. Unfortunately those hotels are allready booked.

Do you have any alternative recommendations?

Our stay is from sept 29 to oct 4.

Sorry. can%26#39;t help any further.

With vacation rental apartment you never know whether it will be a dump or not.

When I checked the Radio City Apts. I entered dates of Sep 25-29, and they still had rooms. Looks like the availability over the weekend is what is not working for your dates.

I also think the upper west side is the best location. Also take a look at these hotels: Beacon, Belleclaire, Excelsior, Milburn, On the Ave. I think Comfort Inn Central Park%26#39;s rooms were smaller, but two rooms might do. (I haven%26#39;t checked prices or availabilities for your dates.) Also look at the Salisbury, it%26#39;s in midtown but right near the park, and a bit away from the theater district. I absolutely think you%26#39;ll need either two bedrooms or two rooms.

Quality Hotel Times Square

47th St btwn 7th and 6th Ave [times quare area]

1 bedroom suite with sofa bed in living room

$279/night

has good reviews

I%26#39;ve stayed there myself in the past

not high luxury but clean
