Restaurants in Times Square for kids w. reservations or...

I%26#39;m looking for a restaurant in Times Square area for after Lion King on Sun. 9/19 at about 6:30. Neither Carmine%26#39;s nor John%26#39;s takes reservations at that time, and I don%26#39;t know if my 6 yr. old son can take much of a wait for dinner. Not really interested in Virgil%26#39;s, because we are from the South, and BBQ is not high on our list of to dos for NYC. Does anyone know about the wait times at Carmine%26#39;s or John%26#39;s? Or another place in the area that is child friendly and either takes reservations or has a relatively short wait time? Thanks.

There is an ESPN zone on the corner of 42nd Street %26amp; Broadway, right across the street from the theatre you are going to. Planet Hollywood is a couple of blocks north, and many like Ellens Stardust Diner, especially with kids, on the corner of Broadway %26amp; 51st.

I think you will be ok at John%26#39;s, there should not be much of a wait on Sunday evening. Can%26#39;t comment on Carmine%26#39;s, you never know with this place. If there are only the two of you and your son, the portions here are tremendous, normally good for a larger party, but that is your choice, of course. There is also Mars 2112, which kids love, parents so/so, I have been, nothing to write home about in the food department, but it was fun nonetheless.

Trattoria Trecolori will take a reservation. Check out trattoriatrecolori.com. Good italian food at a good price.

Mars 2112, lousy food but a great experience for kids. Ellens is great, diner comfort food with waiters who break out in song, beautifully, I must add. For a fancier bit of Italy, we recently took our children to the recently opened Bond 45 at 45th right off Broadway. This would be very convenient to The Lion King. The food was excellent, true Italy with the perfect amount of New York. They do take reservations. This restaurant is owned by the same owners as Red Eye Grill and Brooklyn Diner, both great choices with children.

Outside of the Times Square Area I would recommend Eleven Madison Park at Madison Park, Tribeca Grill near Ground Zero and China Grill in the CBS Building. All are adult restaurants, a bit pricey, but excellent. They will treat you and your children like royalty. My children (ages 11, 9 and 8) love all of these restaurants. Finally, please try the Frozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipty 3 on 60th between 2nd and 3rd Ave.

Have fun with your kids in this great city!

there%26#39;s also a Chevy%26#39;s on 42nd and 8th; it%26#39;s my only chain restaurant indulgence living here. The waits are never more than 30 min in my experience, and the food/service are reliable.

Another fun but pricey place is Churrascaria Plataforma

It%26#39;s great for kids b/c of the novelty; it%26#39;s an all-you-can-eat affair and the waiters come around with these giant skewers of meat and slice off whatever you want onto a plate. It%26#39;s really fun! And they definitely have great variety, including fish. I know they take reservations.

Shula%26#39;s is also a great choice, at the bottom of the Westin on 43rd and 8th, and they take reservations.

I vote for Ellen%26#39;s Stardust Diner. Kids love the food. Great strawberry shortcake.

Thanks for the great suggestions, but as of now it looks like we%26#39;ll have to fast food it after Lion King. The show gets out around 6:30, and ToysRUs closes at 9. The toy store is what my son is looking forward to most of all out of the whole trip, so I don%26#39;t think we can eat dinner at 7ish at any of the restaurants around and have time for him to enjoy the toy store. Oh well. Hopefully, we%26#39;ll find something quick to just grab. Any really quick ideas? We%26#39;ll McDonalds it if we have to, but surely we%26#39;ll be able to find a quick slice of pizza or something. Thanks.
