What to do in NYC
When you get here, buy a copy of Time Out New York or pick up a free copy of The L Magazine in orange street corner boxes.
www.timeoutnewyork.com (mag better than website.)
www.thelmagazine.com (good website)
Also, click through this site or search this forum for ';itinerary'; or ';tirp report'; for ideas. Check out trip reports by vikingtim, orangerepublic, cjlb, atraveler, Boodle45, NYCforMe, etc, etc

Cheers boss, Will do.
Can%26#39;t wait now! just over 2 weeks ... none of us have done the USA before, nevermind NYC. But it%26#39;s gotta be done.
Drinking is quite regulated i understand?
Nice, Thanks
I understand the best place for stone island clothes is C21, do they have an outlet in NYC?
Sorry, not familiar with that clothing brand.
What do you mean by ';regulated';? Are you all under 21?
HTH (happy to help)
p.s. I wouldn%26#39;t bother with Bubba Gumps, but that%26#39;s just my opinion. IMHO, it is a contrived tourist trap. I%26#39;d rather blow my buckage at Blue Ribbon (any of their locations) for seafood.
Ah ok not to worry. It%26#39;s big in the UK but i have known people get it in NY.
We left the trip until i was 21, Last month because of the drinking issue.
Drinking in the UK is very relaxed and you can get away with quite alot!! Not in a bad way ... but it%26#39;s not an issue to get a bit lairy and have a good time!
I can imagine that Bubbagumps being a bit of a tourist trap!
What are the clubs like in NY, dress codes? and open/close times?
Just checked and the yankees are away the whole time i%26#39;m there, gutted!
:o(
Bars usually close around 4AM, and everything is open on Sundays. You buy beer at corner stores/bodegas and supermarkets, not liquor stores. We have an ';open container'; law - no public drinking - but people get away with drinking liquor out of Snapple bottles in paper bags.
(Around 1998, I once got stopped by a cop because I was drinking something out of a paper bag because said drink was too wet to hold. It was about 4:30 pm on a Tuesday, and I was standing at a street corner staring into space trying to remember an address. I must have looked pretty spacey. It was orange juice. Cop was annoyed. Well, the Giuliani years of money-making - I mean, ';quality of life'; tickets - are mostly over, so not to worry.)
You also can%26#39;t smoke indoors in NYC (except in designated hotel rooms and private residences.) But there%26#39;s plenty of outdoor space (back patios, sidewalk cafes, etc.) at venues.
Again, the more specfic your question, the better. (e.g.: ';looking for goth scene'; or ';need to watch Manchester United match';)
Search this forum for words like ';bars'; ';clubs'; ';indie'; , etc., for good posts about nightlife.
