I know that smoking is not allowed restaurants/bars (well at least some of them). You are allowed to smoke outside, just walking around, right?
smokingThe only places in NYC where you can smoke are your hotel room, if it is a ';smoking'; room or outside on the street. If it is really important to you to go to places that have separate smoking sections, consider taking the PATH train to Hoboken or Jersey City. After NYC put the smoking ban into effect, restaurants in these 2 places saw a large increase in business. NYC may still have some hookah bars, but I%26#39;m not sure.
smokingSmoking is not allowed in 99.9 % of restaurants and bars, except sometimes in outside seating areas. It is allowed on the street.
Thanks!! hopefully i will quit before going! anybody know how much are cigarettes in NYC anyways, here is Ohio they are $4.50 a pack.
$7
WOW, thats crazy... i had better quit before i visit. Thanks
You can still smoke here: Circa Tabac (212) 941-1781 - 32 Watts St, New York. It is one of two bars where you may smoke. I cannot remember the name of the other place. They are both cigar bars (although when I was there everyone was puffing away on cigarettes) that were exempt when the law changed.
Lots of bars still allow smoking in their outdoor areas, we found tons when we were there in the summer.
Some research I did before we left came up with this

There are still some places you can smoke indoors. That would be these......

www.newyork.citysearch.com is a great website to search for bars/pubs, it has loads of different fields you can use to search with, ie: smoking areas, outside areas, etc.
Also www.murphguide.com has a few pubs that are listed as having smoking areas.
Hoboken is an area which hasn%26#39;t had the smoking clamp-down imposed on it yet, I think its close-ish but from the sounds of it you%26#39;d be looking to spend an evening there.

As you may see, freedom of choice is still close to my heart (despite not smoking anymore!)
Also, many many people merely step outside the bar/restaurant to have a cig. As long as you are not standing directly infront of the door, the place won%26#39;t mind. Also, you can not take out your drink as you do this. That will result in a fine for you and the place if you get caught. Also, not eveybody in your party should go at once. It%26#39;ll look like you%26#39;re ditching the check.
