Are there any major pro%26#39;s or con%26#39;s against either booking a car (Tel a Viv/Carmel) or just grabbing a yellow taxi when arriving at JFK, to take us into Manhattan? I notice that there is little difference in the fares, just wondered what other people advised ?
Book a car or use a yellow taxi from JFK?I believe the rate from JFK to Manhattan is a FLAT RATE. SEarch on the internet to find out what it is. IN tha tcase, I would take a CAB.
Book a car or use a yellow taxi from JFK?Unless you absolutely have to do not take a car into Manhattan.
Take a cab.
Take a cab.
Take a cab.
Flat rate from JKF into Manhattan is $45.00 plus toll %26amp; tip, total about $60.00.
There really is no issue if you want to book a car thru Carmel or Tel-Aviv. I frequently use Carmel %26amp; have never had a bad experience, about the same price as a yellow cab.
From 5AM until 8PM the car services are both $40.00 plus tip and tolls. So you save $5.00 vs the taxi. After 8:00pm the car services are the same as the taxi.
If you direct either the taxi or the car service to come into Manhattan via the 59th street Bridge, there is no toll.
Tips are generally 15-20%.
With astronomical gas prices car services will raise their prices accordingly, yellow cabs cannot, as they are regulated, so best to check with the particular services for rates. Again, right now, the fixed price via yellow cab is $45.00 %26amp; toll (if applicable) and tips. For sure, the yellow cabs will be lobbying for some sort of surcharge to offset the gas prices.
I heard the cab drivers asked for a fuel surcharge and were refused.
As to the original question, I think it%26#39;s 6 of one half dozen of the other. I suppose it does make some difference in terms of time of day/ day of week you arrive in terms of availability of cabs and length of the q. The only major downside of taxis is you may have to q for one. The car services also keep you waiting a few minutes, usually no more than 10.
It depends how many of you there are and how much lugage. 3 or more - book a car
How long from JFK to Manhattan by Cab? Arrive at airport from UK at about 10.30am, so after Customs etc I guess we should be on the road about midday.
Cheers
Depends on the traffic and where you need to get to in Manhattan Diva78...I would allowan hour/45 mins to be on safe side - although I have sat in traffic for 2 hours before (very unusual!!!)
Hi Penguin1977!
Hotel is on 95th Broadway, I thought an hour to be honest anyway. What%26#39;s the scenery into the city like?
