Mars 2112 discount

I found that restaurant.com sells a $25 gift cert for $10 and then on funtasia.com they have a coupon code for 50% off of that (code 97556) so I got a $25 cert for $5. It is my first time using restaurant.com and was wondering if anyone has had any problems or experience with them. There is some fine print but we should be in their guidelines. I figure at worst I%26#39;m out five bucks. Anyone used these certificates before?

Sorry, I have no advice on the certificates, but - Warning, Will Robinson, warning! Mars 2112 doesn%26#39;t always get ';stellar'; reviews here. Ironically, the best thing about it is the ';atmosphere';.

(*rimshot*)

Here%26#39;s what folks here had to say:

A cut-n-paste from momstravel:

';...Or for a restaurant that serves mediocre food but will be remembered by both children for years to come, head to Mars 2112 (51st and Broadway). It is a Mars themed restaurant where you take a flight simulator to Mars to enter the restuarant. I just took my 15 year old neice there and she is still talking about it. Many kids from around the country have visited this restaurant and love to say they have been there when they get home. Again, not great food.';

and cjlb:

';...Whilst the line to get in wasn鈥檛 that long, it took a while to go down. This was due, as we discovered, to having to be transported about twelve at a time to Mars, courtesy of a simulator ride. The kids loved this, so I suppose it was worth the wait. It looks like they have three of these for when it is busy, but perhaps, being a Sunday evening it was not busy, so only one was operating. Anyway, once we had landed on Mars, we were promptly shown to our table and greeted by a friendly alien, which again, most impressed Sam and Alex. The overall effect of the restaurant was very impressive, though it wasn鈥檛 that busy which, I got the feeling, meant the atmosphere wasn鈥檛 as good as it might have been. Some of the fixtures and fittings were showing some wear and tear as the bench seat I was on had a large tear in it and the restrooms could have done with being redecorated. Our waitress proved a prompt and efficient service and the food on the whole was good, though not necessarily memorable. The 鈥榯eleporter鈥?back to Earth also greatly amused the kids. I would like to come back here when the place was 鈥榖uzzing鈥?';

and oyyveyy:

';I have to put my 2 cents in for Mars 2112 - Horrible! Went with my husband and 3 kids. Had to wait in a Disneyland-type line (zig zagging back and forth) for over an hour. After we finally ';landed'; downstairs we were terribly disappointed by the atmosphere - the word ';Lame'; comes to mind, and the food was very bad. The big screen played a repeated loop of very fake planets spinning around, and the costumed characters were like a bad Chuck E. Cheese. We travel frequently, and to NYC often, and I%26#39;d have to say that Mars 2112 is the worst restaurant I%26#39;ve ever been to in NYC.';

Thanks for your response Queensblvd. We hope the kids will enjoy it (ages 7 and 10) and we%26#39;ll probably just order a burger or something, hopefully they won%26#39;t be able to mess that up. Also I did a search on the general board here for ';restaurant.com'; and it looks like several people in other cities have used these certificates with no problems, we%26#39;ll see. I%26#39;ll report back in my trip report when we return.
