Italian Restaurants

Thanks everyone for all your help and suggestions these past few months it has really helped me lots!

I am now looking for a restuarant for approx 40 people for an informal type meal the night b/4 the wedding so that everyone can get to know each other, i thought perhaps an italian restuarant would be the answer? Everyone is staying at the Salisbury so perhaps within walking distance or a short cab away would be ideal.

Suggestions for any fun/relaxed type of venues that can cater for this number of people would be much appreciated.

Trattoria Dell %26#39;Arte is right near the Salisbury. Their food is excellent and they have several private party rooms. I%26#39;ve attended a party there but it was about half the size and that room which is on the ground floor would be too small for your group. They have several upstairs.

The rest. is known for their antipasto. They make great thin crust pizza and their veal parmagiana is a pounded veal chop that hangs over the side of the plate! (deliciious!)

For something a bit more casual, there%26#39;s an Angelo%26#39;s Pizzeria with excellent coal oven pizza right near the Salisbury on 57th st. on the same block. Don%26#39;t know whether they have private rooms.

Shelly%26#39;s NY is a steak place right on the same block as the hotel and is another idea.

I%26#39;d book Carmine%26#39;s. Their uptown private room would be great, or their midtown space has lots of space upstairs that would seat 40. www.carminesnyc.com

I like Trattoria del%26#39;Arte, but I don%26#39;t know if they%26#39;ve got a room that big. I%26#39;ve been several times to their wine room, but that%26#39;s pretty cramped even with 12.
