I only have 2 nights in NY coming up this Friday and Saturday night (we leave on Sunday at 5pm) I would love love love to hear recommendations as to how I can spend my time most effectively. I want to do all of the touristy stuff and don%26#39;t want to spend a ton on food (I%26#39;d rather shop and bring stuff home!!). Anyone that could help or point me to the right place, would be great.
2 Nights in Times Square - What is a must
Check out New Yorkled and look at their sights quick list:

The MTA MetroCard site also breaks things down for you.
www.mta.info/metrocard/tourism/index.html
Search this forum for ';itinerary'; and ';trip report'; or ';review'; to get an idea of others%26#39; trips.
Here is a good post for you: Top 10 attractions:

Try deciding what your likes and dislikes are.
e.g. museums, modern art, history, ethnic culture, bars, dancing, music, sports, architecture, musicals, comedy, plays, etc.
My other suggestion would be to avoid chain restaurants.
Search ';chain restaurants'; in this forum for back-up.

To purchase tickets online at a discount (to Broadway shows), sign up for a free membership with Playbill at www.playbill.com. That way you can get your tickets ahead of time and not have to wait at the TKTS booth or overpay through a concierge. The only catch is that the online discounts are not for the brand new shows. They also have good reviews of shows at Playbill, and tell you where and how to buy tickets for all Boradway and Off Broadway shows.
Another great site to find restaurants that offer pre-theater specials is www.citysearch.com. We found an awesome French restaurant on 51st and 8th Avenue called Tout va bien, where we had a great three course meal for $22. You do have to go before 7pm to get that price. Also at Citysearch we found a garage in Times Square that charged half the price of the garage in our hotel.
Hope this info helps you.
This is the Times Square and surrounding area:

20 street blocks (e.g. 16th to36th Streets) equals one mile.
Here%26#39;s another good website for inexpensive NYC tourism:
