Best way from Penn Station to Upper West Side?

I%26#39;ve got to go to NYC in two day and want to find the best way to get from Penn Station to 77th and Broadway area.

Is subway the best? If so, what line(s)?

I%26#39;ll try to pick up a guidebook, but this has always been a helpful site, so I thought I%26#39;d try here first.

If you%26#39;re not carrying a lot of luggage, you can easily take the Uptown 1 train to 79th and Broadway (just walk to blocks south when you get upstairs).

Best way from Penn Station to Upper West Side?

If you have luggage, take a taxi. It%26#39;s easy to get one at Penn Station and if you have more than one person it will not cost you that much more than the subway. If you have little or no luggage, take the subway as indicated by prior poster.

I agree, #1 train to 79th %26amp; Broadway is definitely the best way -no traffic to worry about-and the traffic is really bad during rush hours.
